A dance teacher helps their students find the song in their heart, the beat in their feet, and a passion for life.
Kirsti Bennett, the owner of Studio K Dance Gallery, was born and raised in Camrose and started dancing at the age of 6. She studied Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theater, Hip Hop and Lyrical. She has studied the Al Gilbert tap syllabus, RAD and Vaganova Ballet. Miss. Kirsti is also Acrobatic Arts certified. Competing throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, Kirsti has had the opportunity to work with many different choreographers and instructors. She has worked with faculty and choreographers of Groove Street and Street Groove Productions, Blake McGrath, Alixa Sutton, the 605 collective, the Northern Alberta Dance Association and Sinfully Sweet. Kirsti has taught dance at a few different schools around Alberta and is requested for guest and summer school teaching. Kirsti shares her love of dance with her sister who teaches in central Alberta. They enjoy working together to give their dancers the best possible experience. They team up to operate successful dance festivals in central Alberta. Kirsti’s award winning, creative choreography has brought her awards across the province. Her students love her energy and passion for dance. She continues to bring joy and excitement to class every week in her 11th season instructing in Sundre, and embraces the “dance family” atmosphere created at SKDG.
Nicky Shute, from Sundre Alberta, was involved with Sundre Gymnastics for 8 years. Here she competed in group gymnastics, attending Gym Fest every year. Through her experience with Sundre Gymnastics, Nicky earned her CanGym level 1 to 7 certification. She also received the Athlete of the month award from the Alberta Gymnastics Federation. Nicky has attended ACRO workshops in Alberta where she continues to broaden her knowledge of ACRO. Her favorite memory of gymnastics was definitely hanging out with her friends and doing different tumble lines. Nicky is looking forward to being an instructor for the 6th season with Studio K Dance Gallery.
Dani Ganshirt, has been dancing competitively for 20 years with training in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theatre and hip-hop. She has had the opportunity to work closely with many different instructors and choreographers including the Groove Street and Street Groove Faculty. Her well rounded training and fun, spunky, energetic attitude lead her to Vancouver to further her dance training. While in Vancouver she was also a part of Make Your Mark Dance Company where she participated in local performances. Dani has continued her education attending conferences, expos, and conventions. She is also Acrobatic Arts Level 1 certified. She is eager to share her knowledge and love for dance with all. Hip-hop is her strong suit, and she is very excited to be teaching it in her fifth season with SKDG!
Heather Hicks, our energetic Pre-school Instructor, has a wealth of experience working with kids as she has three beauties of her own. Heather ran a day home for several years, working with children of various ages. She has taken a courses on teaching pre-school classes and has a great line up of music, games and activities lined up for our mini dancers. This is Heather's sixth year teaching the pre-school classes for Studio K Dance Gallery. We look forward to having Heather work with our little ones as she always displays great energy, compassion and enthusiasm!
